The Spin-Offs invite you to continue our celebration of Black History Month by learning about African American aviation pioneers of the past and present!
Join us at the National Air & Space Museum for a noon-time presentation on Eugene Bullard, the first African American military pilot.
Ironically, because of the prevailing racial climate in the American military of the time, Bullard never flew for the United States, but for his adopted country, France.
Museum Curator Dom Pisano will discuss Bullard’s improbable journey through two world wars, his extraordinary sojourn in France during the 1920’s and 1930s, and his bravery in the face of the persistent racial discrimination he faced after he returned to the United States in 1940.
Presentation Duration: 12:00 – 12:15pm.
Presentation Location: Gallery 206 - WWI / The Great War
Following the presentation you are welcome to take a closer look at the new exhibit, explore the Museum, and/or grab a bite to eat in the Museum’s cafeteria. (Unfortunately you cannot bring your own food into the Museum.)
If you would like to walk over to the Museum with your fellow Spin-Offs, meet at the FAA's Independence Avenue doors at 11:50am sharp.
Hope to see you there! (I've cleared my work schedule in advance this time! :)
